Recipe For The Week

My Dad, who had 2 strokes, came to live with us 1 year ago.  At that time both our children were going off to college.  We were finally home alone but then came Dad.  My Dad is a very low maintenance man who does whatever you ask of him. I had so much anger that I was the one that had to deal with this inconvenience.  I was continually praying that GOD would soften my heart towards him.  I didn’t know why I was angry, I was just angry for having to be inconvenienced.  I read this bible verse,

You ought to forgive and comfort him, so that he will not be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow”. Corinthians 2:7.

Even after reading this verse I still couldn’t go to my Dad and apologize for my shortness.  I asked GOD to give me the strength just to go talk to him about my hateful behavior. It was so hard (I don’t understand why it was so hard, but it was). I finally opened my heart to him.  I felt so good inside to begin restoring my attitude.  Will my feelings toward my Father change over night, NO…  but everyday, I ask GOD to give me my recipe, my ADD, (step by step by step) instructions in preparing for life.
Recipe for the Week: Do you have someone you are angry with? Are you holding a grudge?
1.  Ask GOD to give you the recipe on how to make it better.
2.  Write down what you want to say to that person.
3.  Go talk to that person.
